Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken about 15 steps out my back door. A group of theses daisies grow directly behind my pond.Time
This was taken early morning just after a nice soaking rain.Lighting
The tail of the storm was breaking up and a little sun was popping in and out. I would wait to shoot until the clouds would pass in front of the sun to diffused the direct sunlight.Equipment
I used my Nikon D700 with a Nikon AF-S 105mm N series lensInspiration
I recently had been inspired by other viewbug members that captured flowers with water drops. I also wanted to create more images using textures and I saw this to be an opportunity to do both.Editing
Yes, I used several post-processing tools. I always import my photos using Lightroom. After making minor adjustments in LR I went directly to My Topaz Studio software. I made more basic adjustments in Topaz then went into Photoshop for any dodging or burning. I returned to Topaz and explore many textures until I found the one I liked. Once finished with Topaz I went back into PS for minor finishing touches and my logo.In my camera bag
I shoot with a Nikon D700 or a Sony A7R mirrorless. I have a large selection of Nikon ED, AF and AF-S lenses as well as adapters to use older Canon FD mount manual focus lenses. When using my Sony I shoot with vintage c mount lenses. My favorite c mount brands are Kinoptik, Angeniuex, Cooke, Wollensak and Birns & Sawyer Hollywood lenses. These lenses were designed for 16mm cine cameras. I use these lenses for the amazing creamy bokeh they create.Feedback
You don't always have to wait for the rain. A garden hose with a spray nozzle will do the same job. I will also carry a spray bottle of water to create water drops on selected objects. Know how to use your image software, their are so many online classes that will save you a lot of frustration.
