Behind The Lens

Location

This is atop Bernal Heights Park in San Francisco.

Time

This was at sunrise. It was an early morning, as the model, myself and my assistant all had to travel a good distance to get there.

Lighting

It was a risk organizing a shoot from so far away without very predictable weather conditions, and we barely got any sunlight through the morning fog.

Equipment

I used my Sony A7RII and my assistant was roaming around with a 600W strobe. We tried several setups to get anything interesting with the weird fog and light.

Inspiration

I was interested in getting an action shot with this spectacular view of the city in the background.

Editing

Just some simple adjustments in Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Sony A7RII, 16-35mm GM, 55mm prime, 70-200mm GM

Feedback

It really helps to have an assistant when you're doing off-camera flash and the environment is in constant flux.
