Great use of light and colours - fantastic work!

Behind The Lens

Location
My photography mentor, Scott Taft set up the shoot at a friends house who had dedicated his dining room to be, well a diner!
Time
Looking back at it was taken at 10:31pm.
Lighting
We used a snoot light and bounced it off the counter. It was at about a 45 degree angle.
Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D90 with the kit lens a 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G on a Manfrotto tripod.
Inspiration
Norman Rockwell was a great inspiration for this shot, but mostly I was just excited to be invited to the shoot and allowed to add my own flare.
Editing
There are three bracketed exposures to make this shot. I worked on getting skin tones right and did some skin smoothing.
In my camera bag
These days I'm using a Nikon D610 and anxiously saving my pennies for a D850! Wana get me a gift! Haha! I like using my 85mm f/1.8G for portraits. I just recently added the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 to my kit also.
Feedback
I think what makes this image is the snoot light bounce off of a light surface in a dark room. We only used one light so it's not a complex setup. The light was at about a 45 degree angle. My mentor was shooting directly at our model and she was looking straight down his lens. So my angle with her looking away indirectly worked much better. Don't worry about your gear!!! I did this on a Nikon D90 with the kit lens!!! It's all about the light!!!
