Location
This was taken at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican.Time
The photograph was taken around noon.Lighting
St. Peter's is magnificently built to utilize the natural light as can be seen from the beams behind the pillar. There was no need of external lighting for this photo.Equipment
I used a Nikon D610, Samyang 14mm 2.8. The photo was shot handheld without a flashInspiration
Every corner inside the Basillica is inspirational.Editing
The photos have been processed to bring out the shadows for the dimly lit nooks and corners of the Cathedral and also WB has beeen adjusted to capture the mood inside the cathedral. In my camera bag
For traveling in cities, I normally keep my 14mm handy for architectural scenes. Getting up close to your subject is vital for wide angle photography. Besides that, I also keep my 70-200 mm and 50 mm primes.Feedback
Look for minor details in the wall, a column, a pillar when shooting cathedrals which have sculptures/paintings all around. Some artist centuries ago created all these with his blood and sweat. The ceiling is only eye catching if there's something for perspective. Also, experiment with angles.
