Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a park in Burbank, CA.

Time

I shot this just as the light began to fade, in the blue hour, approximately a half hour before sunset.

Lighting

I only use natural light.

Equipment

I shoot with a Canon 5Dsr and a 85mm 1.2 lens. No flash, tripod, etc.

Inspiration

I was inspired by gothic tales and Halloween.

Editing

Yes, I do a considerable amount of post processing. I shot this image twice, once with the model, once without so I could make her "transparent" in areas. I also adjusted tone, contrast and retouched in post. I use my own actions/overlays to do this (www.JessicaDrossin.com/store)

In my camera bag

Canon 5Dsr, Canon 85mm 1.2 lens, Tamron 24-70 2.8, Canon 16-35mm

Feedback

I'd recommend using a tripod (I didn't but it would have made life a little easier, lol) Shoot once with the model, then use the exact same focus and settings to shoot again without the model. Place the images directly on top and simply erase out what you don't want from the model's form using a soft black brush.
