Behind The Lens

Location

This ist the location in Lauterbrunnen: 46.587776, 7.913351 The place in Lauterbrunnen is called "Lischmaad" and the waterfall in the background is called "Staubbach". Staub means dust. Bach means river. When it's windy it feels like there would be rain - even with blue sky. I really love this place. More infos about the Staubbachfall you find here: https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-ch/experiences/staubbach-falls-free-falling-waters-with-a-mist-of-spray/

Time

It was a very special day in May, 18th 2018 at 15:21 h. In May, due to the snowmelt, the waterfalls carry the largest amounts of water. Anyone who has marvelled at the 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley in May will never forget this. It is breathtaking.

Lighting

I have tried to capture the special light conditions that prevail in this U valley. In 1911, the 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien hikes through the Swiss Alps – and of course through the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its steep rockfaces. Hardly anyone knows that he found his inspiration for the landscape in «Lord of the Rings» here. Yes, really: those who know the books and films immediately have the feeling they've been thrown into Middle-Earth.

Equipment

Unfortunately I did not have my camera with me then. The photo was taken with my Iphone 8 plus.

Inspiration

I grew up under the waterfall and love it. He looks different every time.

Editing

I made a few minor adjustments with Lightroom-Mobile.

In my camera bag

I usually use the Iphone 8 plus, or a Garmin Virb XE or more recently my Sony Alpha 7 iii

Feedback

I'm still learning and not a photo expert. My ability is not in operating the photo apparatus but in recognizing the special snapshots and pictures. My tip: go through the world with open eyes. You will see for yourself what appeals to you. And that is exactly what you have to reflect. There are countless people who share your taste.
