Behind The Lens

Location

This was shot in a studio. The red rug was a prop that someone had left there.

Time

I'm guessing it was mid afternoon

Lighting

This was done with a single light, camera left through a 36" strip box, if memory serves...

Equipment

I think this was shot with a Nikon D7100. It's been a while so I'm not positive. The lens would have been a Tamron 24-70 f2.8, tripod a Vanguard with a pistol grip head. Light was probably a Paul Buff Einstein.

Inspiration

Shelley obviously has an amazing and colorful collection of tattoos and she wanted to shoot some nudes featuring them. We tried several different set ups with different backgrounds.

Editing

The main thing done is post was to extend the rug, it was not large enough to fill the frame, so I cloned in the parts where the floor was visible, and then added a tilt shift time blur to the upper right, lower left to bring the focus to her. A vignette was added as well.

In my camera bag

My camera bag now has a D850, Tamron 24-70 f2.8, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 50 F1.8, Nikon 24-120, Tamron 16-300 DX, Nikon SB800, Sekonic L-358, a cyber commander and trigger, two Flashpoint Zoom Manual speedlights and a Flashpoint AD200. I also have a small 7" HDMI monitor that I attach to my tripod with a clamp and connect to the camera while shooting to review photos as I go, but it's not a true tether, just a monitor. For main lighting, I'm now using a Flashpoint Xplor 600.
