Behind The Lens

Location

This was fotographed in my studio back in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Time

This was an evening shoot.

Lighting

The lighting was done to enhance my use of chiaroscuro. I like to use shadows, of different intensities to create definition. You can easily see this in the the line of her spine.

Equipment

This was fotographed on Ilford B&W Film using a 35mm Nikon FM camera, handheld. The lighting was Bowen studio lights with a 400 watt power pack.

Inspiration

The inspiration came from the model as she was into a ‘little’ bondage.

Editing

The negative was scanned on a Crossfield Drum Scanner...

In my camera bag

When shooting digitally, I use a Nikon D750 these days. When shooting film, I prefer to use Leica CL Rangefinder with Rokker lenses.

Feedback

To shoot in a similar manner you will not want to ‘over-light’ your subject and be sure to make separation, using lighting, between your subject and your background... Be sure you have a willing model who will listen to and take your direction.
