As the dandelion seed head was quite small and I wanted it in focus from front to back, I had to take 13 photos at different focal points due to limited depth of field with the aperture set as large as possible to minimise loss of sharpness due to diffraction.

As the brightness range of the dandelion was quite wide and I was shooting using Jpegs, I took 3 sets of each of the 13 different focal points. One set was taken at the correct exposure, one set a stop over exposed and one set a stop under exposed.

These 39 photos were then combined using Zerene Stacker and Photomatix Essentials.
