The photo was taken in Landford in the beautiful New Forest. I was walking around a small pond at the bottom of the land where I work. I looked up and the deer was looking back at meTime
The photo was taken in the early evening. I had finished work and went for a walk. Working the the New Forest gives many chances of catching wildlife, right on the doorstep.Lighting
The sun was behind the deer and partially defused by some trees. This put a slight edge to the deer and highlighted some of the plantlife aroundEquipment
I used an Olympus EM1 MK11, with a 40-150 F2.8 Pro lens and a 1.4 Tele convertor..Inspiration
I love taking wildlife photos, and this was a great opportunity.Editing
A little sharpening and contrast adjustment using photoshop. I fine the Olympus does not need must port-processing.In my camera bag
I have an Olympus EM1 MK11, 40-150mm F2.8 Pro, 12-100mm F4 Pro, a 1.4 tele-converter. 4ND filter, ND Grad filter, C/P filter, Benro carbon fibre tripod.Feedback
The best change of taking a photo like this go into the environment where they live. Try not to wear any strong deodorant or aftershave / perfume. wear clothes that do not make a noise and have not been washed recently. Move slowly and keep the noise to a minimum. Sometimes, like with this photo, the opportunity sometimes come along without going out of your way.
