Location
The photo was taken during a Joakim Karlsson workshop hosted by Marco Gressler at the Castle in Balgach, Switzerland. This was one of the Photos made in the beautiful garden of the castle.Time
The photo was taken at a very sunny day in the late afternoon. One would think, no optimal light conditions. But there is always a way to the goal.Lighting
The light was terrible. The model stood in the middle of the garden in full sunlight.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 5D MK III with my Sigma 85mm f1.4 Lens (the old EX and not the Art Version).Inspiration
My goal was to capture the incredible shape of the model.Editing
Of course, I also used the usual beauty retouching in this photo (the usual dodge & burn, the skin corrections and set light accents). But in this photo, I had to go an oter way. Every participiant has made some pictures of the model in nearly the same way, so I had to make the difference with the post-processing. I choosed this blueish color look that you nearly forget the realy bad light conditions. And this gave the Photo that special look. I'm realy happy with the result. In my camera bag
At this time, for my portrait shootings, I filled my bag with my full format DSLR and a set of fast primes: The 50mm, a 85mm, a 135mm, often a 105mm macro as well and the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom.Feedback
Try to find the best lighting conditions for the realization of your image idea (better then here) and then photograph your model. The most important thing is and remains the light.
