Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Primolo, a little village in Valmalenco, on the Alps.(Italy).It is an old stone house, abandoned for a long time, where probably pastors or peasants lived.

Time

I took this shot in 2016, during a family trip. It was morning, around 10 am on 12 June.

Lighting

I love the sun, but that morning was cloudy. Despite the clouds, the light was still strong and gave contrast to the stones of the house and this staircase. I think there was the perfect light to photograph in b & w without shadows

Equipment

I use a Nikon D5200 that I use only in manual mode. For this photo I used a Nikkor 18-55 and considering that I set the machine to 1 / 200sec, it was not necessary to use the tripod

Inspiration

II love taking pictures of everything that is old or worn out, and seeing this scale, I have not resisted.

Editing

In post production I increased slightly the shadows and blacks. I tried during shooting to decrease the exposure, going from f4.5 and even to f8, but the effect was not the same and so I decreased the light that was very intense through software

In my camera bag

I love fishing and taking walks in the mountains. For this reason I bought a Sigma 18-200 f3.5 and a Tamron 70-300 f4. Always during my excursions, I bring with me a Samyang 50mm f1,8, in case it should happen some macro sho

Feedback

To take pictures like this, you do not need anything special. You just have to remind yourself that everything around you is a possible subject. When you have noticed something that intrigues you, the only thing to do is try and try again. Change angle! Change settings on the machine! The incorrect shots, you can still delete them. The age of digital photography also helps in this. Good light to everyone!
