Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at FD studios in Los Angeles, 5th floor.

Time

Mid afternoon

Lighting

I used two strobes, one on each end behind a Black V flat, directed towards the models. And of course the ambient light from the windows

Equipment

Nikon D800, 70 to 200mm lens. Hand held. the platform is raised up to just below the windows, I was at the end of the platform to gain the low angle.

Inspiration

Amelia the base model and I have discussed doing this Acra yoga. Christine the flyer model had never done this and wanted to try it.

Editing

Very simple photoshop editing, white balance and cropping.

In my camera bag

Back then it was a Nikon D800 system, pocket wizard, and a assortment of lens, 70 to 200, 85mm, 24mm, and a 90mm macro. today I have a Fuji GFX 50s medium format, 45mm,63mm,110mm and the 100 to 200 mm lens. A Profoto A1x a Profoto A1.

Feedback

Pay very close attention to the lighting. Try not to exceed f4 on exposure, control the DOF. Most amateurs make the lights to hot shooting at f8 and higher.
