Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot in the beautiful Rialto Theatre in Brighton, it was during Lulu's show reel shoot, we combined primo shots as we had the space for the day

Time

It was around mid afternoon by the time we got to this one, we had several outfit xchanges for different songs they were showcasing

Lighting

This was a promi for live performances, but to make sure the image was clean and clear for publication we combined both studio and stage lighting to ensure we got the full effect desired, with minimal noise.

Equipment

My camera on that shoot was the nikon d750, and using pixa pro pika 200 lighting along with neewer umbrella softboxes on pixa pro stands, o was shooting without a tripod.

Inspiration

As a music photographer you don't normally have the freedom to move around and it's not easy to get back stage passes, I wanted to show a different side to performing through photography and give a sense of what it is like on stage.

Editing

A little increase in contrast, some light dodge and burn and a drop in shadaws/exposure, all completed in Lightroom

In my camera bag

I normally carry an Olympus em5mk3, with 45mm, 12-40mm 2.8, 25mm prime 1.8 Nikon d750 with 24-70 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 I also take backdrop (2.5m) frame, pixapro lights and modifiers on location for the studio experience.

Feedback

Just practice, any opportunity you have make sure you keep a camera on you all the time, you never know what might happen!
