Behind The Lens

Location

New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, New York, USA.

Time

11:24AM on 4/11/18.

Lighting

Taken with natural light through windows/glass ceilings of Conservatory (indoor). No flash is used.

Equipment

Sony Alpha a99 with Minolta 100mm macro lens (f2.8). Data: f4.5, 1/350s, ISO 200. No flash, handheld.

Inspiration

I did not expect to see water lily in this season (April). So, when I saw the water lilies, I was very excited. Although this was indoor, lighting was perfect and color was excellent. I did not want to miss this opportunity.

Editing

I used the 'radial filter' in Lightroom to make surroundings darker and make the flower clearer. I cropped a little. Also, I lowered the highlight.

In my camera bag

Sony Alpha a99 camera and Sony Alpha a77II camera. Minolta 100mm f2.8 macro lens, Minolta 80-200 f2.8 G APO zoom lens, Minolta 28-70G f2.8 zoom lens, Minolta 85mm f1.4 lens. Dust blower and lens cleaning kit. Extra battery and extra memory cards.

Feedback

Composition and point of view is very important to take a nature photo other than lighting. Extra careful to find out the nice angle.
