Location
This photo was taken in the 9 mile prairie in Lincoln NebraskaTime
It's just before sunset in spring.Lighting
My main focus was to get the eyes visible through the tall grass I wanted her eyes to almost glow with the light so I didn't want the grass to be too thick as to block the lighting coming through.Equipment
I'm using the canon EOS 6D with the 85mm f1.8 lens along with a yongnuo flash mark IV. Off camera is a soft box with a remote trigger for that little extra pop of light.Inspiration
I wanted to say something about how we try to hide ourselves behind a thin veil that most people can see through anyway. To us we think we've successfully concealed ourselves from the eyes of our friends and family when all along we should just come forward and be unapologetically ourselves.Editing
I use Lightroom for 99% of my editing. The only post processing I used here was to remove blemishes and what not from the model's skin.In my camera bag
I carry the essentials! Of course my canon 6D (7D for backup) an 85mm f1.8, a 50mm f1.4, and a wide lens 17-40mm plus my tripod. If I have at least these basics I can pretty much make any photograph i want.Feedback
Pay attention to light! It makes a portrait magical! Try many different angels and keep shooting and trying new things!
