Calling all the people who want to HELP OUR PLANET and all the PLANTS and ANIMALS on it! Here is YOUR CHANCE to contribute to the GOOD of our world and consequently, help ALL of us!

I am Leighton Lum. I am a nature photographer. I take pictures of our natural environment, wild animals, and their habitats. Unfortunately, through my travels I have learned that man is one of the biggest problems that animals, plants, and Mother Earth are facing. Our behaviors and the choices that we have made have deeply destroyed habitats around our world. The effects of man are killing all of the plants and animals around our planet. Without the animals, plants, and our natural environment, we are in essence, destroying ourselves! Why do we continue to do this to ourselves?

I recently visited orangutans that live in a rainforest that is rapidly being destroyed by palm oil companies. These companies burn down the forests to clear land in order to plant more palm trees. This palm oil is used in several packaged foods, deodorants, shampoos, soaps, candies, and baked goods. As a result, the orangutans and other rainforest animals are being forced to move into smaller areas of the rainforest where humans have not yet invaded. Eventually, there won’t be a home left for these creatures to live in safely.

Fortunately, there are still some parcels of the rainforest left that the palm oil companies did not yet get to. I want to help preserve what precious little rainforests there are left on this earth and all of the native animals and plants that live in it.

I met a person named Arbain who has created a team of individuals called the Green Team in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. This team is one of the last strongholds that can save the Borneo orangutans. The Green Team helps reseed burned down parts of the forest and help the forest to regrow. They focus on conservation efforts through ecotourism to educate foreigners of this ongoing issue in Borneo. Arbain has worked in these forests and helped many of the orangutan rehabilitation centers across Kalimantan for many years. He has seen first hand the population decline of the orangutans and the negative effects that the palm oil industry has caused over the years. As many as 300 orphaned or rescued orangutans are currently under the care of these rehab centers. A lot of these orangutans are very young orphans (less than a year old) due to farmers who have killed off their mothers! These mothers are seen as pests and thieves to the people who live there, who are only trying to find food for their families since their own rainforest homes have been destroyed. Some orangutans are injured by the ongoing fires, which are purposely set to clear the land.

This is why the Green Team focuses their efforts on buying prime orangutan rainforest habitats from the local native communities in an effort to stop the palm oil companies from expanding. It costs only $600 US per hectare of forest. The more land and trees the Green Team can own, the less amount of the forest is left for the palm oil companies to destroy.

I am reaching out to everyone to help me fund Arbain and the Green Team so they can purchase land and trees to preserve the natural rainforest habitat, home to these endangered species. They need our help!! Please help us stop the killing today!

You CAN make a difference to help preserve what little our world has left of our rainforests. You can help to save our rainforest animal and plant species. With your monetary donations, we can HELP to preserve the biomes that plants and animals need to thrive. For every donation of $30 or more, I will send you a matted print of one of these endangered orangutans that I met in the forest. Just send me your name, address, and proof of donation of $30 or more. Please feel free to check out my website at www.photographybyleighton.com.

I hope these animals are still there when I go to visit them again next year to check up on them. Please GIVE and help save our Earth and the animals living on it! Thank you for your caring and donations!!!
