This church was build in close proximity of the village of Van Reenen in KwaZulu-Natal in 1926 to commemorate the death of a son after the nearest congregation refused to lay the young man, Llandaff Mathews, to rest. After saving eight fellow miners he was killed in the mine when he went back to rescue another miner. His farther then build this oratory with seating for eight people in memory of the eight miners rescued. To this day It is still functions as a place of worship and and service is held there every Sunday morning. The building was declared a National Monument in 1960. Allegedly the smallest dedicated Roman Catholic Church in the southern hemisphere. (IMG_1341)
