I was attending a photography workshop at Grandfather Mountain. The motel where I was staying had a woodsy area behind it. Since the workshop was also sponsoring a contest, I wandered into the woods and found this nodding trillium. I had to lie on the ground to get this shot. As an amateur I was trilled to get honorable mention competing against pros.
