Sunflowers have become a popular photography subject. They range in size from the low to the ground ones to the giant ones 8 feet tall with blooms as big as dinner plates! They are often grown as crops to provide sunflower seeds for oil, bird food, and human food!
This sunflower is the result of the many sunflower seeds dropped to the ground by birds. I have added an art filter in post-processing to achieve this design.
Helianthus or sunflowers is a genus of plants comprising about 70 species in the family Asteraceae. The genus is one of many in the Asteraceae that are known as sunflowers. The blooms can be as big as dinner plates or only a couple of inches in diameter. Whatever their size, they present a cheerful face the entire time they bloom. And when the blooms begin to wither, one of the most useful seeds are accessible, the sunflower seeds. These seeds are a boon to birds and other animals, including people. The oil is delightful as a cooking oil.
