I had previsualized this photograph a few years before I took it. When I saw this elk feeding beside the water on the other side of a small stream I knew that my chance had arrived. I set up my tripod and flash to take the shot. Then I angled and zoomed the flash in to hit the body of the elk but not the water. When I fired the camera I knew that I had just ticked off one of my "Bucket list" photographs. This once in a lifetime shot was in the bag!
