Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Huntington beach state park, SC, USA

Time

It was mid morning in a cloudy winter day.

Lighting

From the way the grass was reflected in the water I believe the the light filtered by the clouds formed this gorgeous effect in the photo.

Equipment

I used Canon 7D and a Canon EF 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 lens.

Inspiration

Actually I came to this place to take as many photos of the beautiful birds that come here for their meals. My wife who is an artist showed me the beautiful abstract patterns of the grass reflections on the calm water of the high tide and I couldn't stop shooting them.

Editing

I used Lightroom for minor adjustments to the light and I chose to crop it to a panoramic form.

In my camera bag

Canon 7D mark II, Canon EF 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 L IS II :USM lens, canon EF 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 lens, canon EF-S 10-22mm 3.5-4.5 USM Lens.

Feedback

The marshes all along South Carolina beach are a unique and fascinating Eco- system and The Murrells inlet is the cherry on the top of this jewel. The place is very popular for birds lovers and for photographers who love birds. The grass reflections caught my eyes when for a moment I lowered my head from trying to catch sights of the magnificent birds that were my main target here. As a photographer you have to have keen eyes on all your surroundings and always be prepare for the beauty around you besides your intent target. It always good to visit places in different weather and time of the day. For perfect reflection on water there should be no wind at all.
