Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a studio I helped build for a fellow photographer and was still under construction when this photo was shot.

Time

This was a mid morning shoot there is plenty of outside light coming through the windows as this studio is in a warehouse on the third floor and it has windows all along one side. I try and use natural lighting as much as possible and that is what I have done here.

Lighting

All natural I think it makes for some great photos

Equipment

Canon T6s with standard 24-55mm lens

Inspiration

New model new studio and me just learning the ins and outs of shooting humans instead of animals and landscapes. Trying to broaden my overall knowledge of photography

Editing

Just a little levels adjust

In my camera bag

At the time of this shooting I was using Canon and a full array of lenses and filters and a tripod, quite heavy to lug up and down mountain trails and trying to find just the right combo to get the photos I wanted. Now with a Sony RX-10 I have everything in one light weight camera and get pretty much the same results

Feedback

Working with natural light can be tricky and sometimes very hard to predict so you have to be patient and know where and what you will be shooting. Shadows can be a real problem when you are relying on just the sun and the angle of light is not always right so you might have to wait it out.
