Location
This was taken at Guadalupe Island off the west coast of Mexico. The deep blue waters off Baja make for some of the best visibility on the planet!Time
This was shot mid morning during the second cafe rotationLighting
The lighting is all natural. No strobes were used to capture this imageEquipment

Sharks give all the inspiration necessary to take their photos. My inspiration is conservation focused. I am about to publish my first children’s book on sharks. My goal is to make a series of educational shark books to teach the next generation about sharks and help conserve themEditing
White balance underwater is key. In Lightroom I use the dropper tool and select the white part on the bottom side of the shark. Then I get the colors the way I want. From here my goal is to make the shark jump out from the background as if it were jumping out of your dreams! In my camera bag
I carry a shark hat a friend made me for good luck on my shark dives! Besides that just scuba gear, camera gear, and extra O rings for my dive housing!!!Feedback
Go shark diving! Do it!!! It is the most wonderful experience. Underwater photography is the most rewarding and frustrating type of photography. It takes practice, focus, and a little luck to get the shot! You must know your camera gear really well BEFOFE getting in the water. Trying to mess with settings underwater is difficult and can be dangerous. Try to set your gear up before getting in the water. That way you only have to focus on the sharks and the shutter!
