The Sun only rises at this point in the Valley during the Winter Solstice in Banff from this perspective in front of this warm thermal sulphur spring. This beautiful photograph has won multiple awards from the Professional Photographers of Canada at both the Provincial and national levels.
The ice crystals beside the spring only form on very cold nights in the winter. I laid down on my chest in order to get this perspective that brings them dramatically into the foreground. One of my favourites!
