Location
This shot is from Hintersee Berchtesgaden, Germany. This lake that rests between mountains is one of my favourite location in the area. Hintersee is on many photographers bucket list and for a good reason. This place is amazing year around no matter what time of the day you visit. Location is easy to get and can be very popular on high season.Time
This shot is taken on very early morning at March. I visited this marvelous location 3 mornings in a row and each time i had totally different conditions. This particular morning valley was covered with clouds and short snow showers kept coming and going giving it very moody atmosphere.Lighting
This morning was the only one from 3 mornings that i visited this place when i had the whole spot to myself. Place was so serene and quiet that i was sucked into the mood and kept on capturing the feeling. There wasn't any wind, but luckily clouds were still moving so i took advantage of them and dragged my shutter to create even more mystic kind of feeling to the sky. While sun was peaking above the horizon somewhere behind the clouds it brought the variance into clouds .Equipment

I had seen lot of pictures from this spot. But i had not taken my changes with it and i decided to to take a visit. As said i ended up beeing there 3 mornings in a row to witness it's glory on different conditions. on this 3rd morning when i got there i was somewhat dissapointed on conditions and the light snow shower. But still digged my camera out of the bag and decided to give it a go. I had found this composition earlier with great foreground and leading line to the small island with trees on a day before which i liked a lot. So went for same spot. This time i realized that the small snow shower was actually a blessing for the shot i was about to take. It highlighted those foreground rocks and totally changes the sceneary from earlier visits. As often with landscape pfhotography, things just clicked on that precise by passing moment into this shot.Editing
In many cases the simpliest images are the best. To this shot i used Lightroom and Phototshop with moderate adjustements. I used most time to slightly dodge and burn those small details to make right parts of the shot to pop out little more. There is no "magic" tricks on this one, no heavy processing, just to let the picture speak for itself.In my camera bag
I enjoy shooting my landscapes often with wide angle. In this trip i had 2 different wide primes with me, Samyang 14mm and Nikkor 20mm. I also have Tamron 24-70 and 70-200, which i have been using more and more recently on my landscape work. But those wide angles are most often on my camera. They are light to carry on hikes, even though this particular spot does not really need any hiking to it. I also have variety of different filters which i use to bring out the best of the scenary.Feedback
Shooting with wide angle seems to be the easy option for lot of landscape photographers, but there is a trick to it i think. You don't want to shoot is all and include as much as possible into single frame, but you should be thinking your composition. How to use leading lines on the picture and show that "near far aspect" on your shot. That is also one of things why i like to use prime lenses. They make you think more - force you to use legs and find that composition. Difference between good and great shot is very small, and it comes from the small things, yet in the end result it can be obvious. Another "lesson" of this shot would be persistance. If you don't get the shot you are looking for on 1st visit to spot, give it a 2nd go or 5th, When you are dealing with nature light and conditions you will get different and fresh (snow in this case) scenary every time. Don't rush things and if possible on your travels plan the trip so you have time and freedom to come back to certain spot if needed.
