I took this photo in Lisbon (Portugal) in the Mouraria, one of the oldest parts of this wonderful city.Time
It was about 4 PM, after we had a great and long lunch!Lighting
The streets in this part of Lisbon are narrow and constantly winding up and down, so in this case I had no direct sunlight, creating hard shadows or highlights.Just nice and soft colors.Equipment
I have a Lumix DMC-TZ100, all my photos are taken with this little miracle of a camera...The best thing about this camera is that it has a good Leica lens and it is very easy to carry with you because it practically fits in your back pocket. I didn't use any extra equipment, I took the photo spontaniously free out of hand.Inspiration
The nice soft colors and the strange way the stairs joined the two buildings with the warm light at the end where too nice and simple to ignore!Editing
I did the post-processing in Lightroom. I straightened the distorted perspective and enhanced the colors a bit. I also softened the shadows and added some light at the end of the stairs to put some focus on the yellow wall.In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment in my bag (yet) I am a beginning photographer and I am learning to use a camera, to look for the good light, composition and point of view. One day when I know how to use and set the camera well enough, I will start to think about a bag filled with technical things instead of the need to understand how it works first...Feedback
To capture an image like this is all about being aware of your surrounding, just look around you and be bewondered about the beautiful lively world we are living in, see the possibilities for a nice capture behind every corner. When I walk through a city or anywhere else, I allways look around me very carefully to see the details of which the world around me is build up. I try to look through a pinhole, without forgetting the whole picture. If you look at a subject to photograph, you have to try to realise what you want to achieve, Try to find the good light, the right point of view and the best composition... In this case I chose a nice place in the middle of the street and took some photos from different hights. Once you get home and open your laptop, the magic of today's world begins... I allways crop it later into the size and composition I like best. Crop the photo in different ways, so you can choose the best one the next day when you can have a fresh look at them!
