Behind The Lens

Location

This rare scene was shot along the Jurassic coast just down from durdle door. The cliff top was lined with photographers making the most of the unusual snowfall

Time

After driving through heavy snow for 2 and a half hours we arrived at durdle door around 11am. A short walk down a steep hill and along the cliff edge I came to this spot. The snow was still falling which made it really difficult to keep the lens clean.

Lighting

I actually think the lack of harsh light helped create this moody scene. I prefer dark lighting to full sunshine !

Equipment

For this photo I used my canon 6dmkii 16-35mm lens and most importantly a big umbrella !! Without it it would of been impossible !

Inspiration

As soon as I saw the snow where I loved I checked the weather forecast for durdle door to see if the snow was falling there. As soon as it showed heavy snow I jumped straight into my car ! Snow on the Dorset coast is rare and I couldn’t miss this opportunity !

Editing

For this photo I edited it in photoshop. The colours actually haven’t been changed so what you see is what it actually looked like

In my camera bag

In my camera bag I always have my 16-35mm 70-200mm lenses along with my canon 6dmkii. I keep my filters, spare batteries and cloths inside also.

Feedback

WRAP UP WARM! That is my advice ! If you are freezing cold you won’t enjoy the experience. Take your time and check the lens to make sure snow hasn’t hit the front of it as this will show smears in your photo
