Instagram Post: Do you like your sweets or do you favor salty food? Sweets for me. I’m craving gelato right now.
I flipped the camera on myself this past weekend. My first YouTube video is up on the Kasz Photo Creative channel. I can’t wait to share tips on how to get aerials like mine! Feel free to subscribe to it: Kasz Photo Creative

Song Of The Day: Times We Had by SG Lewis. He just gets me.
Thank you for another epic adventure @newportcoastaladventure ! It was an incredible experience capturing this shot of a humpback! ❤️
Sidenote: I only moved the bird slightly back since it blended in with a wave and I added the glare to the other side of the image to even it out...because I’m a perfectionist when it comes to composition.

Behind The Lens

Location
Well it required a boat, an experienced team of whale watchers, an acute awareness of my surroundings, and patience. I used Newport Coastal Adventure in Newport Beach, CA. The boat is moving whether its turned off or not. So I had to launch via hand and catch it when I'm done. It's a thrilling experience and I never know what to expect!
Time
I believe it was close to 2PM. Midday is best!! The more light, the better!
Lighting
I shot this midday so that the sun would act as a spotlight behind me. When I use a filter, it’s usually a polarizer; but it’s unnecessary for this particular shot since you want the light to hit the whale as much as possible. Another thing to note is that I always keep the drone in line of sight of the boat; and if I lose track of the whale, I make sure that the drone can visually identify my boat, just in case.
Equipment
A Phantom 4 Pro drone.
Inspiration
My passion for the outdoors and love for animals!
Editing
I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to composition. With this photo, I moved the bird slightly back because it blended in with a wave, and I also added a glare to the other side of the image to even it out a bit.
In my camera bag
My phantom 4 pro, and I always have four full batteries on hand. I also find it important to always have a back up drone in case something goes wrong. I have a GoScope bag and I surprisingly edit all my images on my laptop. I don’t like having a big tablet while flying because I’m a creature of habit and my phone works just fine.
Feedback
My formal education has helped me so much, but I’m not telling you that to make you feel bad if you don’t have a degree in your pocket. A lot of creatives haven’t attended art school. Don’t be discouraged if that’s you. There’s a ton of resources out there that are a click away and don’t cost a dime. We have the power to gain knowledge at our finger tips. Youtube is a hub of information. Always stay curious - be a sponge and try to learn as much as you can. Kav of Drone Gear is someone to look at when it comes to gear reviews. Lynda.com and CreativeLive are two other websites that cover important subjects such as photoshop and basic elements that make up a great photo. You see, if you’re truly passionate about something, you’ll feel compelled to learn about it all of the time. That’s another way that I knew that I was doing the right thing. I’m constantly making time to further establish my technique. There are just so many resources out there.
