This photo was taken in my home in West Virginia. We live in a rather large rental property, and the room was unused for the longest time, so I figured, "Hey, why not turn it into a beautiful, bright space that could be used for a studio?"Time
I wanted the room to be as bright as possible, so we began this session around noon.Lighting
Natural light, natural light, natural light. When I am able, I will always use natural light for my sessions. Being able to manipulate light and shadows for a photo is one of my favorite parts of this process.Equipment

I was approached by a mutual friend of a friend about my feelings on doing an alternative pin-up/fine nude session. I had only ever done boudoir in the past, so I told her if she was willing to be my guinea pig essentially, that I would be more than happy to give it a go. A couple nights before the session, I did some "research" and looked for some inspiration before diving into the session. After creating the bright bohemian scene in the spare room, I wanted to keep the images light, playful, and almost innocent.Editing
Post-processing of course, depends on the type of feeling I want to portray. For this set, I went through one round in RAW to tweak the dark and light as well as certain color tones in the scene before going into full editing. I did some slight retouches on the skin, and mainly focused on the matte color filters for the images.In my camera bag
I take my camera bag with me almost everywhere I go, so because of that, I always pack my full arsenal. Lens hoods, spare batteries, memory cards out the wazzoo, as well as my 5 main lenses -- 18-55, 50, 75-300, 24, and 10-18.Feedback
When it comes to fine nudes, I believe the female body is a force to be reckoned with. Be sure to take it slow, and paint the picture in your mind before you begin. Just think back to the sculptures and paintings of ancient Roman women -- it's all about elegance, and being tasteful rather than being blatantly explicit with your images. Your camera is your greatest weapon, paint your picture!
