Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Ploumanac'h, it's a beautiful little village near Perros-Guirec in Brittany. The village is famous, becuase of this lighthouse and "le chemin des douaniers".

Time

It was a cold day, in the end of February, and wanted at first the lighthouse with a sunset. When I arrived the sun was hidding behind heavy clouds. So it was the end of day in February.

Lighting

Nothing specifics about lighting, just that i took this photo at 35mm, f/5, ISO 100, and in 73,7 seconds.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 750D, with a 35-70mm lense, a Joby tripod, and a neutral density filter.

Inspiration

I had just bought, my first neutral density filter. I wanted to experiment this item, with an outstanding scenery. So I decided to go at Ploumanc'h lighthouse (one of my favourite spot in Brittany). I remember wanted to have a large composition, I wanted to have the lighthouse, the sea and one of the seven island on far back hidden behind a light mist. And most importantly, I wanted a long exposure shot.

Editing

I hardly do any post-processing, I like what the earth is offering us, and I don't want to change anything.

In my camera bag

In my bag I have my camera, a Canon 750D. Three lenses, a 18-55mm for large scenery, a 35-70mm for capturing the essential, and a 50mm when I want to be creative, and also this one is my lense for night shooting, cause of the f/1.8.

Feedback

Be creative, be yourself, YOU are behind the camera not someone else, just YOU, and if in your photo we see you, then you have take a good shot. You want to capture lighthouse, try long exposure, I think that is a good start for capturing lighthouses. After that wait for the right moment, a bright sunny day, a sunrise, a sunset, a moody day, a rainy day, a mist... only you can decide this item of your photo. Lighthouse in the mist is really good. ;)
