I made this photo in the cellar of a themed bar in Ryazan-city, Russia.I needed some really steampunk entourage, and I accidentally found it there. I was happy when the bar owner agreed to let me use the cellar and bring some huge lights :)Time
It was a day. But the cellar was dark :DLighting
This photo is part of the series "ClockWork Dolls", so it had to be a little over-the-top, somewhat unreal and buffoonish. And it was steampunk after all, so I needed it to be a little grim also. I used one portrait dish to highlight the model and one little softbox to show gears in the back. Later I just added some artificial look in postwork.Equipment
I used Nikon D7000 then, Tamron 28-75 and two studio lights. Actually, I borrowed them at the studio I was working at then, and don't really remember, which ones they were.Inspiration
It was my conceptual project "The ClockWork Dolls", where I tried to make a series of five characters, made in only half-serious way, as some collection-dolls in steampunk appearance. But in the end each character looked too unique in style and quality, and they all didn't have much in common, so now I prefer using them as separate works :) The Lady was the last one, and she is the most accurately done.Editing
There was much post-processing done to make it look more like a comic-book or toonish character, but to retain reality at the same time. The model, Bella, is awesome, so I didn't have to think about poses or understanding, and I went hard on lighting and photoshopping. In my camera bag
Nikon D810, two Tamrons: 28-75 and 75-200, one Pentacon 2/50 (M42), one VIJIM video-light.Feedback
Alway search for great locations, they can be anywhere :)
