The monastery library in Admont, Austria was once declared the 8th wonder of the world soon after its completion in the year 1776. Built and adorned in the Rococo style of the late Baroque period, its ceiling frescoes depict the ladder of human knowledge; and it can be said that they rival the beauty of those found in the Sistine Chapel in Rome. And the incredible sculptures that adorn the various chambers are treasures themselves. The library houses the largest collection of religious, theological, philosophical and scientific books and manuscripts in the world.

Photos permitted, flash is not. We lucked out and had the place all to ourselves between tourist groups. It was truly inspirational
