Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture along the Boise River in Caldwell Id.

Time

Early in the morning I saw this little guy in a snow bank just plowing thru the snow. He was only about 10 inches long and looked like it might be too young to be out, but was managing fine.

Lighting

No special lighting, I did a little with shadow/highlighting.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7500 with a Sigma 150-600mm C lens and a 1.4 tele converter. Hand held.

Inspiration

Not too much inspiration other than a chance to take pictures of an animal that I have never seen in the snow. I have photographed mink before but only along the river or in the water.

Editing

A little Shadow/highlighting and sharpening. A little light in the eyes.

In my camera bag

I normally have a Nikon D7500 & D7000 with Sigma 150-600mm C lens, 18-70mm Sigma lens, Tripod

Feedback

Unless you are familiar with the wildlife and know where they are most of the time I suggest that you have your equipment ready to go all the time. If I hadn't had my lenses on my camera I probably wouldn't have got a shot, He headed back to the river area almost immediately after I saw him.
