Wonderful photo. I have a ten-year-old in tap and she has a similar passion for dance as this young lady reveals in this photo.

Location
This picture was taken at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh. We were in a dance convention and she had a break. What she decided to do? A dance photoshoot!Time
This was taken at exactly 12:39pm on 11/19/2017. Now, the time is not exactly important for this. The incredible part is that she had been dancing that day for almost 5 hours straight. Not to mention that the day before she danced another 6 hours. And she still wanted to do this when she had a break and was able to come up with this incredible idea.Lighting
Hotel halls are quite hard, as they are dark most of the time, but the table provided an incredible reflection and we couldn't miss this opportunity.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D750 and I was trying my new 85mm 1.8F lens.Inspiration
She's 10. And I had just started doing Dance Photography. We were in an environment where dancers train competitively more than 20 hours a week for styles such as contemporary, jazz, lyrical, acro, etc. She is a ballerina, and ballet being her main style, she was out of her comfort zone. Can you imagine a ballerina dancing hip hop? Well, she nailed it. And I wanted to capture how amazing she is, and this photo did a good job at it, but believe me, she's way way better.Editing
Yes. I shoot at flat so I always have to bring back some of the color. I used Lightroom and Camera Raw. Played with the temperature, shadows and contrast to bring this picture to life.In my camera bag
I'm a newbie in dance photography. I took a photography course long time ago and I just decided that I wanted to try again and found an incredible passion for dance photography. But I'm just getting started with my equipment. I only have my Nikon D750, and 3 prime lenses (35mm, 50mm and 85mm, all 1.8F). I usually shoot in reduced spaces and didn't want to buy a zoom lens, but now that I've been doing it for a while, I think my next purchase is going to be a 24-70.Feedback
For most dance photographers that are trying to capture dancers wherever they are, then I would recommend equipment for low light, as most of the time it is really dark. Then, my best advice is to let the dancers feel comfortable with pictures. It is a completely different environment from actual physical movement to taking a dance picture, where you have to capture movement, or strength, or balance. The dancers know what they are doing, but sometimes they are shy, they don't know how to show what they are capable of doing. Find the right place; find the right moment; make them feel comfortable, and magic happens.
