Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken toward the end of last summer. I was driving along some farmland in upstate around Ancramdale, NY and there were two fields of Sunflowers. I could not resist stopping for this photo and glad I did.

Time

This photo was taken about an hour before sundown.

Lighting

I try to take my photos within an hour of sunrise or sunset for the best lighting. Otherwise, sometimes photos get washed-out.

Equipment

IPhone 6+, it's all I had with me at the time.

Inspiration

An unusual scene of those many sunflorers in one place is what inspired me. I try to take photos that I have not seen before or to show to individuals that may not have had an opportunity to see that scene.

Editing

The post-processing was completed on the iPhone. I cropped the photo and darkened some of the shadows, then I brightened some of the colors for more intensity.

In my camera bag

Nikon D7200 and 3 various lenses and a few filters. Micro lenses, zoom and a midrange. Extra batteries and extra sd cards are a must. Black & white paper for backgrounds, if needed for macro shots.

Feedback

Get in the car about an hour before sundown and drive the back roads until you see something interesting. Then shoot many angles of it. Enjoy the ride!
