Absolutely amazing capture!!! Oh no! H's spotted you!
Why is he not in the den? Food shortages for the animals here in AK, have had our bears hibernating much later and waking up alot earlier.
Glad you are safe! Keep taking pictures!

Location
I took this photo in the southeastern part of Germany. I remember that it was back in January 2017.Time
I arrived quite early in the morning about 05:00 AM as I wasn't sure when the bears would appear, if at all :-). The temperature was about -20 degree Celsius and it was a challenge for me to keep me and even more important the equipment ready.Lighting
It took about 7 hours before I saw a bear this day and I waited another hour to get that angle and the look straight into the camera.Equipment
I used a Canon 1DX MII paired with a 400mm F2.8 Canon on a Gitzo tripod mounted on a Sattler fluid head.Inspiration
I was keen to get a photo of a bear cub during winter time while the snow was almost "untouched" and as deep as possible. Last but not least I was waiting for a moment with not too many distracting elements - what a challenge!!Editing
I have a "normal" post processing routine, using DPP as a RAW Converter and Lightroom to add a bit more contrast to the fur of the bear cub. I added the saturation and a vignette. In my camera bag
As I am focussed on animals I have 400mm F2.8 paired with either a Canon 1DX or a Canon 7D MII in my bag. One tripod and one monopod - that's it.Feedback
Well, I think it is all about timing and preparation as well as patience to get a shot like that. Due to the weather conditions it was more of a challenge to stay focused while making sure, that the equipment stays in good shape and batteries having enough power.
