Location
This photo is taken on a Maui, Hawaii beach. When we were heading to and from Lahaina for touristy things the day before, I noticed this tree and went back the next morning.Time
I took this image in the morning a bit after sunrise. Sunrise happens in this location behind the Haleakala volcano, so you have to wait a bit longer for it to rise over the mountain. You can see some of the first rays on the tree. 9:21 AMLighting
Lit by some of the early rays of the morning. The sky was already brightening up a bit and since the sun was not quite hitting the beach yet, there was a reflection of the tree reflecting.Equipment
I used my Fuji X-T10 with my 10-24 Lens. The photo was at 10mm, ISO 200, and 1.5 sec at f/5.6. I used my Benro tripod for the long exposure.Inspiration
This tree really intrigued me as it was getting hit by the surf. I liked the minimalism of the photo as the tree slowly succumbed to the ocean.Editing
Nothing too crazy on the post processing. Some adjusting of highlights and shadow. Fixing of a couple dust spots and a little dodging and burning. In my camera bag
MY bag is evolving as I get into photography more. I am definitely learning as I go. I have a couple lenses; a 10-24, 18-55, and 55-200. I have several screw on filters: ND3, ND6, ND10 and a CPL. With that I have more tripod and a couple other odds and ends.Feedback
I feel like images like this are all about the light and finding the composition. If you can find something interesting and be there at the right time, that is most of the battle. At least for me so far as I am still learning.
