Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken in "Manarola" one of the villages in the "Cinque Terre" park in Italy
Time
The photo was taken a few minutes after sunset, when the light of the sun is still present.
Lighting
I decided to wait for the sun's light and the village's lights to be well balanced. It is a matter of waiting for the right moment, the intensity of natural light changes quickly at sunset!
Equipment
The shot was taken with a Nikon D800, a Samyang 14mm with a Manfrotto 190XPROB. I had a remote shutter release attached to the camera.
Inspiration
The "Cinque Terre" park is full of interesting spots to take photos, the small villages are coloured and inspiring. I scouted the location during the afternoon and decided to return at sunset.
Editing
The post-processing is really simple: just some contrast and clarity.
In my camera bag
I usually carry my main camera body, a Sigma 24-105 f4, a Samyang 14mm f2.8, a Sigma 35mm f1.4. Some filters: a Polarizer, a ND4 and a ND 1000. I alway carry a tripod and a flashlight with me.
Feedback
Scout the location before taking the shot if possible, find a spot that you like. For this particular shot I was hoping for a nice cloudy sky but it cleared up a couple of hours before sunset... I was about to leave when I decided to stay a little longer to see how the light would reflect on the water. As soon as it started to get darker there was just me and another photographer left (out of about 10-15). Sometimes spending a few minutes more to see how the light changes can give you nice results!
