Making this picture has been on my list for a few years. Photographing the sunrise on this spot. Last week I finally had my chance with the best weather conditions. The ice on the water is a nice bonus!

Location
Close to my house, where I live for 6 years now, I took this picture.Time
On a normal morning like any morning on a workday, I was getting ready to go to work. When I got into the car with my belongings I saw that the sky was beautiful because of the sunrise. Driven quickly to this location to take some photographs just before work. When I arrived at this spot I couldn't be happier, it was beautiful. In addition to the beautiful colors and reflection, the water was also frozen. The frozen water was bonus, it makes the photo even more special.Lighting
In my head I have always seen the picture in front of me, a beautiful sunrise and reflection in the water. But I did not expect this, as beautiful as this I will not often experience it.Equipment
I used my Canon 40D with an EF-S17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens. Not other equipment was used.Inspiration
I regularly came to this location and have already taken several photos, but photographing a sunrise here was high on my to-do list. I knew that in the winter the sun would rise in exactly the right place. It was just waiting for the right time.Editing
I made HDR recordings with the idea to merge them later in Lightroom. In the end, I didn't do this and tried to make my rough shot as realistic as possible. For this I did the basic editing on a photo. Such as exposure, white balance, contrast, saturation, vibrancy and the colors. Nothing too much, but a little bit of everything. In my camera bag
In addition to the body and lens that I used here for this photo, there is also a body (Canon 50D) and my 100mm macro lens on it in the bag. I have a lot more at home, but I rarely or never use that again.Feedback
To take a picture like this coincides with knowledge of your location, timing and luck. I knew in advance what I could expect at the location if the sunrise was beautiful. Only then should you have time at that time, see it and also be really lucky that it turns out so great.
