Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken in Italian Dolomities. This is Rifugio delle Odle, in Funes.
Time
This is my favorite picture in my entire heritage, so far. We went to this place in the afternoon to photograph the sunset. Weather conditions were perfect. I watched the amazing light painting the peaks of the mountains. The photo was taken on October 15th at 6.14 p.m.
Lighting
I wanted the orange peaks to be reflected in the tiny pond under my feet. I think that it added charm to the whole amazing scenery that prevailed there.
Equipment
Thi was shot on Canon EOS 5D Mark III with Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens. More parameters: 16mm; ƒ/11; 1/2s; ISO 100 and tripod.
Inspiration
This was my second trip to the Dolomites, year after year. Being there for the first time I focused on the biggest attractions. During the second trip I wanted to visit less popular places. On the Internet I found this beautiful place and started to read articles in depth. I saw a few shots from other photographers, so it inspired me to get there.
Editing
This picture is an one frame. I did not combine two photos. Standard correctiond as in most of my photos: contrast, shadows, overexposure, color saturation, white balance. The light was so wonderful that the RAW file looks beautiful.
In my camera bag
The first thing I always pack is my Canon EOS 5D Mark III body. Due to the love of landscape photography, I always pack my favourite lens Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM. In the trip it is also useful to sometimes bring a piece closer, so the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is also included in the bag.I love to capture the people with whom I travel or encountered in a given region of the world. Canon 50mm f/1.4 EF USM is ideal for this. The picture from this lens is beautiful. Shallow depth of field is what I love most in people photography.
Feedback
Landscape photography requires a lot of dedication from the photographer. The most important is the light for me. So we take photos at sunrise or at sunset. Therefore, it is often necessary to set off on a trail at night with headlights on the head. In winter, the difficulty is the mud and fresh snow that is sometimes covered and knee-deep. We must also be lucky for the weather, so it is very important to observe weather forecasts. If we are on spot and will "play everything", we have an amazing spectacle in front of our eyes, which we can also show to others through photography.
