During Frost Festival 2017, the 80-meter interactive light and sound work "The Wave" had a premiere, and it was from its place at Ofelia Plads a luminous lighthouse in Winter Copenhagen. The reception of the work, created by the lighting design collective Vertigo (formerly Obscura Vertigo), was beyond expectation and therefore "The Wave" will be resumed this year from 4 February until winter ends 25 March.
This year, "The Wave" appears again as the work has composed two new lighting and sound universes. The first is by visual artist Frederik Svanholm from Vertigo and musician and composer Mikkel Meyer. On February 25, "The Wave" will be a new expression, where both the light and sound page was created by Jonas Fehr, who interprets Ofelia Plads' maritime history.
With 80 censors spread over the 40 four-meter high triangular gates, the work is programmed to respond with light and sound on visitor movements throughout the installation during both content periods. In this way, visitors are continuously helping to create the work of Vertigo's productions.
The Wave has just been a trip abroad when it was exhibited this weekend as part of the magnificent London Lumiere Lumiere Festival, where more than 100,000 visitors visited the work, but Frost Festival and Ofelia Plads can once again present the success of the Copenhageners d February 4th to March 25th. It's quite free to experience The Wave, which is switched on all days from kl. 06-24
