This isolated tree was in my eye sight for a year now and the last snowfall was just perfect to get to know this tree a little better. The conditions were, light snow, little to no wind, and cloudy, but for me it was perfect.

Location
The photo was taken near my home town where i was born and grew up, the location is visible from the road i travel to work.Time
With this location it's always a struggle do to pastures and electric fences in the summer it's not accessible so I waited for winter to take the photo. The time was around 4 P.M. so it was around dusk.Lighting
It was an experiment due to bad weather (light snow, cloudy day, light winds and cold) if the image will work. I wanted the photo to include only the sky no objects, no breaking in the clouds,... as i wanted to be as minimalistic as possible. The ground was covered in snow, the sky was light gray and the tree stood right out.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 700D, kit lens 18-135mm EF-S, and a release remote shutter, I like my images sharp.Inspiration
I guess it's my main passion in searching for perfect isolated trees and trees as well. Found a few this winter, but this one stood out. I love trees and nature, that's what got me into photography in general. If you live were there are no lakes, mountains or majestic structures and you have to travel to shot that, then you start searching for different subjects and themes to photograph. And winter is perfect for minimalistic shots.Editing
The post-processing was basic: exposure, contrast, shadows, highlights, graduated filters, clarity,... and I went for black&white edit, it was perfect for the image. In my camera bag
In my Evoc CP26 photo backpack I have my Canon EOS 700D with my my 18-135 mm lens, I also have a 50 mm F1.8 lens. A ND1000 filter for my main lens, remote release shutter, spear battery and memory cards, a gorrilapod tripod for near ground photos, extra clothes, and a chocolate bar make it two.Feedback
It's simple, sometimes everything falls into place, sometimes it doesn't. To all landscape photographers, as i'm self taught, these are rules i follow. Go out, shoot, explore, think about your composition and re-think, read a book about landscape photography even if you think you already know everything, some times refreshing the knowledge is what your creative spark needs. Plan ahead and most of all be patient sometimes the good things come at the end of the day or the start or midday, depending on what you shot.
