Location
This photo is a blend of several images, most of them are from stock images. I took the picture on the background with is the Alpes, in the French side. I also took some pictures of smoke and dust in my studio in order to give some realism to the car. The car with people and the long road and both pictures that I bought from stock websites.Time
The one picture that I took, the mountains, was shot at noon and that trip was in December. As you can see the shadow of the car being projectd on the road, you can guess the time of the day on that picture. Same for the long road image.Lighting
This pictures have been "re-lighted" using dodge and burn technique in editing. Originally there was less contrast between the long road and the mountains, but I decided to change the background and replace a dull sky with this mountains in a bright day, so I have to relight a little bit the whole atmosphere to create a colorful day. Some layers of dust and fog were also added to blend in a more realistic way the images.Equipment
I have a Nikon D800 and a 14-24mm 2.8 lens. No flash, no tripod.Inspiration
I love traveling. We were planning a road trip to the mountains in the Pyrenees, in Northern Spain, and I created this vision on my head... afterwords I searched some images and I tried to create the scene as I imagined it.Editing
Yes! This image is all about blending. There are at least 6-7 images combined in this one: The long road, the mountains, the car with friends and some layers of smoke, dust and fog to add realism and help with the blending process.In my camera bag
I got two sets of equipment, one for studio images and another for traveling. When I travel I got my Nikon D800 and some lenses: Nikkor 70-200 2.8, Nikkor 14-24 2.8 and my preferred one Nikkor 35mm 1.4. I usually take a tripod and a externar trigger with me for night shots. Sometimes and depending on destiny I bring some speedlight too.Feedback
If you want to create an image like this you should take some time learning Photoshop or any editing program. Then you got to learn about working with masks, which is easier that it looks :) And then you should have a little library with some pictures of isolated smoke, fog, dust, etc (you can buy those, by the way). Then just import all the images in separated layers in your editing program and blend them together. There are hundreds of tutorials on youtube that you can study in order to learn to do this (I know some in Spanish language). Play this different images and see which one works better to create the atmosphere that you want.
