Behind The Lens

Location
This was taken at a gaming convention in Melbourne Australia. The event is called PAX. The location itself was at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre. The shot was taken lying down at a random fence next to the centre.
Time
This shot was taken at around 4 to 5pm.
Lighting
All natural lighting in this particular shot. 80 to 90% of my shoots are all done with natural lighting.
Equipment
For this shot I used my Nikon D610 and a Samyang 35mm f1. 4 lens
Inspiration
The model's cosplay is of a character named Yotsuyu from the Final Fantasy game series. I predominantly shoot cosplay themed shoots as I love the challenge of bringing the characters to life in photography.
Editing
I used Lightroom for lighting and color corrections as well as to add a hint of fade to the shot to make it interesting and to add some depth to the shot.
In my camera bag
I always carry my camera, the Nikon d610 and my 3 trusted lenses. Samyang 135mm f2 (my favourite), Samyang 35mm f1. 4, and the lovely and unique Helios 58mm f2 with an adaptor to use on my camera body.
Feedback
Never be afraid to experiment when shooting with cosplay themes. The same applies to any type of photography. Get to know the camera, the settings, the lighting. Then can be confident with composition and posing models. To shoot cosplay photography, thereare many events worldwide and the cosplayers are always happy to have their photo taken, if asked nicely. Conventions are a great place to learn. Not just for cosplay, but also to shoot with models and their poses. Conventions have many difficulties with shoots, such as varying lighting from one part of the venue to the other or to outdoors. Being with people helps the photographer to overcome many obstacles when shooting.
