I took this photo in El Nido, Palawan near a road leading to a cemetery. I was walking around downtown El Nido for some sunset shots. But unfortunately the sky was cloudy but I noticed the clouds are moving fast behind Cadlao island. So I spent some time doing a long exposure, and there you have it. :)Time
This shot was probably taken between 5:40 pm to 6:30 pm. I had my tripod with me and set it up at the shore near the rocks for more texture. I tried to expose the edges of the rocks using the flashlight of my phone for leading lines but it was too dark and I could not make it more clear. But somehow I like what it turned out.Lighting
Honestly, I was trying to reveal more details of the rocks using the flashlight of my phone for more texture. But it was too dark already and I'm having a hard time working on it. Then when I reviewed my shots on my laptop, I kinda loved how it feels when I looked this shot. So I retained as it is.Equipment
For this shot, I used Nikon D90 with 18-105 lens, a broken tripod, a flashlight of my iPhone, a remote control, and three mounds of sand for more stability to hold the feet of my broken tripod. Lol.Inspiration
I just love sunsets. Every time I have a chance to shoot a sunset, I will definitely run to get my camera and set it up and capture what I can capture. Sunsets are a great reminder of solace. Even darkness can bring beauty and peace to a broken soul. Well, kinda cliche and cheesy but that's how I feel every time I am watching it. It gives me a different sense of hope and it's like the skies are talking to me. For so many years of chasing sunsets, there's no sunset identical to another. It is always different, which makes it more interesting.Editing
Usually, I do not post process my landscape photos. I want to retain the real colors of the scenery, but this one is an exemption. This is actually two photos merged into one. The first layer shows the sky beautifully. The second layer shows the rocks illuminated by flashlight from my phone. And this is the first photo I did such. I used Adobe Photoshop and masked the two photos to reveal what I want. It's kinda not my style of merging photos but this one is cool though. In my camera bag
I am a Nikon user since the very first so I have my Nikon D90, 18-105mm kit lens, 50mm 1.8 prime lens, 70-300mm zoom lens, a lens hood, blow brush, fabric for wiping, chargers, batteries, and some coins. Lol.Feedback
Just enjoy the moment, experiment, try everything you have in mind, but most importantly, go out and take photos. :)
