Behind The Lens

Location

I found this beautiful gold snake and I wanted to play with it, mixing bodyscape lighting on the human and having the snake >glow<.

Time

This was shot indoors in a studio. Time of day was between 10am-2pm.

Lighting

Bodyscape lighting is fun and medium difficult. The real problem was getting shafts of light to illuminate the snake. That took some experimenting, But the results...

Equipment

2 studio flashes, 180 degrees apart. Sony camera with a 24-70mm lens at 70mm. Black wall behind.

Inspiration

The beauty of the golden snake and the wonderful woman I worked with.

Editing

Post processing was done with Luminar. Nothing fancy.

In my camera bag

I generally just take in my bag what I need for the shoot. Camera, 24-70mm lens, Pocket Wizard. I also bring props, in this case a few snakes. Gold works a lot better than silver in this case.

Feedback

Work with the model. Show her/him you work and talk about what you like and what you would like to improve. Get feed back from her/him. Try again. If one time in ten is better than a hundred tries is likely to be much better. Not all of the same shot of course, but interesting variations on the theme. In this case a glowing golden snake on a shadowy body.
