Behind The Lens

Location

I saw huge flakes sparsely falling and went out wrapped the porch rail in a scarf and waited for one to land on it. I didn't use my tripod because the time was so short from when they'd land to when they started melting.

Time

mid-day when it started snowing.

Lighting

Natural light only

Equipment

Lumix FZ-1000

Inspiration

I love macro.

Editing

I cropped it some, gave it a slight vignette and made it black and white.

In my camera bag

Either my Fz-1000 or Fz-300, flash, flashlight, filters, tripod, lens clothes, extra batteries, lens hood.

Feedback

Be patient. I just put on my camera gloves and waited while enjoying simply watching the snow fall. When I was done I put my camera in the garage to slowly warm before bringing it in the house to avoid condensation. If I had known it was going to snow I would've had my scarf out earlier so it would already be cold. I lost a few flakes right in the beginning because my scarf was house temps. A cool LED ring light would've been a plus.
