Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken along the Carretera Panamericana in Argentinian Patagonia.

Time

It was about noon, which is theoretically supposed to be the "golden hour" in terms of available light.

Lighting

However, as it often happens in that area, the sky was cloudy, thus allowing some softening of the shadows in portraits, both of the human and of the animal kind.

Equipment

My old Canon E8800 (may it rest in peace) was, as usal, ready at hand.

Inspiration

The richly colored flowers created a fairytale-like background. But what really caught my attention was the relaxed, though attentive and aware attitude of the mighty horse, who acted as if the grass, the flowers and the land belonged to it (which is probably true, after all).

Editing

The only editing applied is a very slight enhancing of the colors' saturation.

In my camera bag

No tripod was used for this shot, as there was no reasonable risk of blurring the image.

Feedback

As for most images, instinct is what drives the photographer's hand towards a scene which has the ability of catching our eyes and our heart alike.
