Location
This photo was taken on private property, so I can't reveal the location.Time
It was a great morning, the light was perfect and a bit cold as it was at the end of the winter. But that didin't bother me at all, I just sat there for hours, observing this majestic bird.Lighting
It was a partly cloudy morning, perfect light for a portrait of a white bald eagle head.Equipment
I used the Nikon D80 at that moment with a 70-300mm (at 300mm), handheld.Inspiration
I have a huge passion for bald eagles, Their nature is raw and full of power. Its so different from ours. I like to observe that behind my lens waiting for the right moment to capture their characteristics like this call. The eagles are always leading.Editing
I shoot in RAW so I always need to sharpen up a bit and I cropped the photo a little. In my camera bag
I usually have two camera's in my bag nowadays, Nikon D500 and back up camera D300, several lenses, a monopod, lots of memory cards and in the winter hot packs to warm my hands.Feedback
Find a place were eagles are more used to people, you can think about a raptor rehab for example or places were lots of eagles are around. The white heads can be challenging, I prefer underexposure in my camera settings, to prevent the white head from becoming a white surface. I make some test photos to make sure I have the right settings before I start.
